About Habu
"habu" came from the name of a very poisonous snake, which is unique to southern islands of Japan, Okinawa.
"Ha"means "wave". "Bu" means "fabric". We chose a different character for "ha" for our name, which means "no.8". Because of its bottom wide shape, this number is believed to bring life, which slowly, but eventually opens up for you.

Habu carries unusual and difficult to find fine yarns from Japan and Asia for weavers, knitters, basket makers, stitchers and artists. The collection is pretty amazing. It's lovely too that the yarns come from small mills all over Japan and are produced to order. For this reason, please be patient if something is out of stock as it can take a very long time to re-stock. We will do our best to keep at least a few of the gorgeous habu yarns in stock at all times.
Habu yarns are not fairly traded. However, they have been chosen for their extraordinary quality. To bring the trading standard to that otherwise uniform throughout this store, Stitchville pledges to invest 5% of net profit from all sales of Habu yarns in a selected female entrepreneur setting up in the textile industry through KIVA. |
